How long have you been in photography?
I (McKenzi) have been a photographer since I was 14 professionally… well, i got paid to shoot my first wedding at that time. I have been doing this consistently and in a professional capacity my entire adult life (since 2008). I first started out working for a university in California as their main photographer and coordinator. I developed my skills there for managing people and teams as well as honed my photography and editing skills.
After moving to Las Vegas with my husband and knowing that I was an entrepreneur at heart I decided it was a perfect fit for me to run my own business. With a Master in Organizational Leadership under my belt, it was also natural for me to start mentoring and creating teams within TPM. That part of the business also brings me much joy so I can bridge the proper team member with the client and vice versa.
I continually take classes and train to always stay up to date with technology and the trends but also have honed my skill set to reflect our branding and style.
How many weddings have you photographed?
I would say that Las Vegas has a different style of the wedding so I have probably shot more than other photographers in other demographics. We shoot on average about 200 events a year, with about 75% being wedding related. We photograph anything from a pre/post wedding shoot, an intimate wedding or elopement to a full-scale wedding with luxury details.
Wedding vs. Intimate Wedding vs. Elopement. What’s the difference?
We consider anything that is over 4 hours a traditional wedding. Traditional weddings normally include a second photographer, a full-day of service (getting ready to your best man’s awkwardly awesome toast). We normally expect that you’ll have a bunch of families there so we allow for time to take family photos and detail shots of all the awesome vendor details.
An intimate wedding or elopement is a wedding that is much smaller in nature. We normally are very hands on with elopements and even help couple’s plan them with our other company — Cactus Collective. These weddings are normally a bit shorter in length, have much fewer guests, and sometimes have a fun vibe or quirky detail about them.
We actually also do traditional weddings that fall into the 4-hour time span, and that is completely fine we just give our “elopement” packages to those.
The biggest differences for us is the number of photographers we send between our elopement packages (1) and our wedding packages (2).
Do you send another photographer to shoot?
We do have a team of photographers and videographers that work with us. With that said you would know ahead of time who your photographer would be.
We have built the business around providing great imagery and great customer services which mean that it’s in our best interest to constantly be training and developing other photographers not only to be able to serve more of our clients but also in a case of any emergency situations.
Right now, our photographers are a close group of people that we work with to develop a similar style and look that is reflected in our images online.
Do you have a portfolio for all your photographers?
We don’t offer a portfolio for each of our photographers because the work is blended in nicely with our site. We also want to pick the best photographer for your event and usually can evaluate who is the best fit for YOU after our online or on-call consultation.
Do you shoot in color and black and white?
We always shoot in color and on RAW files, but if the setting is right we also provide images that are in black and white. Most of the time we stick to our classic and timeless editing style, but occasionally we can’t resist providing a few black and white files if the image calls for it.
If you are looking for black and white photography, we can provide you with that, just let us know ahead of time and we can take that into consideration while in post-production.
Digital or Film?
We shoot with digital.
What kind of camera do you use?
We use Canon 5D Mark III and IV and continually strive to keep our equipment and software up to date. Our other photographers use the same level of Nikon gear.
Can I share a Pinterest board of ideas with you?
Heck, yes. Now, we do have to be honest that we do not replicate or copy the photographers work. We are, however, happy to use your Pinterest inspiration board as that… inspiration. Share away with us at @tayloredphoto
Do you charge a travel fee?
Depending on the location, time and circumstance, yes. Let us know in more detail.
Do you offer any customization?
Yes. Very happy to customize and help beyond photography for your wedding day.
How long does it take before we get photos or video?
We aim to provide our photos to clients in 2 weeks or less.
Videography is delivered within 6 weeks or less.
If you’d like something delivered sooner, please let us know we can make special arrangements.
Do you provide USB’s, CD’s or how do we get the files?
We use a service called pixieset which is an online gallery that provides our clients with an easy solution. This service allows you to view, download and is high-resolution images with family and friends. You can also order prints directly from the gallery if you choose.
Will our images be used in your portfolio?
We love to share images online and on social media. If you prefer not to have this, please let us know ahead of time!
